About

Summer- I'm just a mom who can't find styles for my toddlers hair.. so I make them up or tweak longer styles to work on shorter hair. I never paid much attention with my son, but when I started looking for styles I also started to find out alot about what's GOOD for hair and how to properly care for it. Like many moms out there I decided to blog about my learning experiences. As of right now I know how to make crooked parts, put in a rubber band and do basic individal braids (thanks to my mom having me help her do extensions when I was little). Hopefully I can learn to do basic cornrows and some of the more fancy braids and intricate styles out there!

Taiden- My son and first born. He is 3 and a half and has tons of thick hair! My poor baby got LUCKY I found Mixed Chicks to use on his hair.. I knew nothing of natural products or how to get and maintain healthy hair. His hair didn't break off or anything so I like to think my use of just water and Mixed Chicks to moisturize had something to do with that. And I NEVER combed his hair dry. I'm not much into hair types yet, TK has larger loose curls on top and in the front andd tight small curls on the sides and in the back. I didn't cut his hair until he was 2 and it used to be more even all around. I am now a slight beleiver in the old wives tale that cutting the hair young can cause a change in texture.

Khari- My princess and second born. The reason for the name of this blog. She is truely a monkey. She climbs on everything and gets out of every hold I put her in to do her hair... She is currently 1 years old. It was looking for infant and toddler styles for her that helped me become informed about natural haircare. She had really loose curls at first, but as she gets older they are getting tighter and tighter. I'm just beginning to work on getting her edges to come in as they have always been really thin. Her hair is alot thinner and curlier then Taiden's. By the time I had her I did know not to put baby oil in her hair so in the beginning I just used water and coco butter lotion (which I won't ever do again). For what I do on both their hair now see Do the Do.
