Basket-Weave Side Pony

I've only ever done what I called a criss-cross style on Khari for pigtails, but this weekend I decided to do it into a side ponytail. Everywhere else I've seen it it's been called a basket-weave style so tada.. Khari's basket-weave side pony!

When I started out I was going to do the basket-weave on both sides, but when I got to the 3 in the middle I decided to just leave the other side out (so that her ponytail wouldn't be uber thin) and I braided the remainder up to the ponytail. She loved it and kept talking about her pretty hair. I really liked the braided look and I think I will try something like that with all of the 'weaved' parts someday.

I was also very excited when I went to walgreens on Sunday to buy a razor rash cream for Dev that I heard was going to be back in stores (I hate paying for shipping, but it's the only kind that works for him), and I glanced down the hair aisle and they have started carrying more Shea Moisture products (before they only had the Deep Treatment Masque)! I was really excited. I just bought the Curl and Shine Kit (about 4 oz of each product) for 20 buck to see how I liked it. I refreashed Khari's hair after her nap with a spritz of water, a splash of the Hold and Shine Moisture Mist, and a dime sized amount of the Curl and Style Hair Milk.
I loved it. I think it smells really good and the mist did the trick on the front of her side pony that as you can see had already started to come out in the last picture. It's only been one day, but so far so good. I can't want to use this product more and try it on both kids for their wash tonight!

Ponytail with Sidewinders

After yesterday's MESSY hair Wednesday post I figured I should post something where my child doesn't look like a rag-a-muffin! I was originally going to do something like this to see how much of a difference it would be 7 months later, but she wasn't having it and kept moving around so after the first 2 front piggys I just braided them and connected them to on ponytail. With Khari's 'shrinkage' (I've never used that word before!!), it isn't much of a ponytail, but I still think it's cute! My son brought down 2 sidewinders (That I won!!) so I stuck those in before I dashed out of the door! These pictures were taken with my IPod before I left to work so the quality is pretty horrible!

Top/front with bow I made

Back all curly and wet.

Top with Sidewinders

My little helper wanted me to take a few picutes of him so I of course obliged! He was next, but I had to run out the door so daddy was left to do his hair!

Happy Face!

Mad Face!

Sad Face?

Crooked Piggies

Today I wanted to do a Monkey See, Monkey Do from PrincessHairstyles.com, but my nook wouldn't pull up that post and I had limited time this morning (I was still 5 mins late to work actually, but it was my fault). So instead I just did some crooked piggy's. As I've said before I'm not great with parts so I just did a crooked part (on purpose) down the middle (front to back) and then parted from ear to ear. I first put a ponytail in the top section then connected it into a piggy with the back section and repeated on the other side. I think next time I will do four on each side and have the piggies be lower on the back of her head.

Monkey See, Monkey Do: Keyative Styles Pullthrough Headband

Keyative Styles mommy did this cute little pullthrough ponytail headband on her daughter Keyanna. I saw it yesterday and was like I have to try that on Khari. I only pulled through the middle 4 ponytails on Khari's hair because I was late for work, but I still think it is cute.

Monkey See, Monkey Do! Princess Hairstyles(picture day)

Why hellloooo there! Somebody? Anybody? Ah well I'll write to myself I guess. :-)
I saw this hair style at Princess Hairstyles.com and I thought it was so cute! But. I don't know how to cornrow or lace so I did my own thing. In stead of cornrowing her hair I just kind of twisted it. I say kind of because this girl would NOT hold still so they look kinda bunk. I also couldn't pull up the pic on my nook this morning and I was in a rush so I tried to do it from memory. I didn't realized she didn't connect all three parts until just now. Oh well. Here it is! As you can probably tell, we do hair at breakfast time.

She was so excited when she saw this bow I made! She kept putting it next to her shirt and smiling.

Oh how I love these curls.

Monkey See, Monkey Do! GoldilocksnMe (Sidewinders)

I saw this 3 braid style done using sidewinders over at Goldilocks*n*Me, but hey I don't have any so I improvised. Like the mother over the there (not sure if she wants her name or initial shared as I couldn't find it on her blog) I did the 3 braids then connected them at the ends. I just used a clip to hold them down and I left Khari's hair out in a Wash N Go instead of a braid like she did. So... Ta-Da...

Quick Chain Pigtails

Once again we have a quick style I did before rushing out of the door. I did this the other day before we went to the zoo. It was getting late and we wanted to have at least 2 hours there. The top two parts were pretty even but after that things went south and the parts are pretty jagged. I was going to just do the two linked/chain pigtails up front, but then I decided to see if her back was long enought to attach as well. They BARELY made it. I think this would be a really cute hair style if her pigtails were longer and thicker. I think I'll try it again in a year.
